Welcome to Building Elsewhere. These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Building Elsewhere website at buildingelsewhere.com, our newsletter, and any related services (collectively, “the Publication”). By accessing the Publication, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Publication.
These Terms are written plainly on purpose. Where plain words are not legally sufficient, they are supplemented with the language the law requires.
What Building Elsewhere is, and is not
Building Elsewhere is an editorial publication. We write about residency, citizenship, tax, cost of living, and entrepreneurship in a small set of countries. We do our best to report accurately and to cite primary sources.
Building Elsewhere is not a law firm. We are not tax advisors. We are not immigration consultants. We are not financial planners or investment advisors. Nothing published on this site should be treated as legal, tax, immigration, financial, or investment advice.
Residency programs, tax rules, visa requirements, and citizenship pathways change sometimes without warning. A post that was accurate when written may be out of date by the time you read it. Before making any decision that affects your residency, tax status, finances, or legal situation, you must consult a qualified professional licensed in the relevant jurisdiction.
We cannot and do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information published on the Publication. You use it at your own risk.
Your use of the Publication
You may read, share, and quote excerpts from Building Elsewhere for personal, non-commercial purposes, provided you attribute the work clearly and link back to the original post.
You may not reproduce entire articles, republish substantial portions of our content on other websites, scrape the site for the purpose of training commercial AI models, use our content to compete with us, or misrepresent our work as your own.
If you want to quote more than a short excerpt, use our content in a commercial context, or translate an article, contact us at hello@buildingelsewhere.com. We are generally happy to grant permission; we just want to know.
Subscribing to the newsletter
When you subscribe to the free newsletter, you are agreeing to receive emails from us. We send typically one to two emails per week. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
We ask for your email address and may ask for your name. We do not require you to provide any other information to subscribe. Your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
Comments, replies, and submissions
If you leave a comment on a post, reply to a newsletter, or send us a reader report from a country we cover, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to publish, edit, and distribute that content as part of the Publication. You represent that the content is your own or that you have permission to share it, and that it does not violate the rights of any third party.
We reserve the right to moderate, edit, or remove any submitted content at our discretion. We may decline to publish anything that is defamatory, harassing, unlawful, or off-topic.
Intellectual property
All content on buildingelsewhere.com including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, images, the Building Elsewhere wordmark, and the overall design is the property of Building Elsewhere or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You may not use our trademarks, logos, or branding without our prior written permission.
Third-party links
Posts on Building Elsewhere frequently link to third-party websites government immigration portals, tax authority pages, news articles, and other sources. We include these links because they are useful to readers. We do not control the content of those sites and are not responsible for it. A link from Building Elsewhere to another site does not imply our endorsement of that site’s content, products, services, or policies.
Premium tier and tools (when applicable)
Building Elsewhere may, in the future, offer paid subscriptions, tools, or other premium services. When and if we do, additional terms will apply to those specific products, and we will make those terms available before you purchase.
For now, all content on buildingelsewhere.com is free to read, and no paid products are currently offered.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also notify subscribers by email. Continued use of the Publication after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

We do not warrant that the site will be available at all times, that it will be free of errors, or that any information on it is current or accurate. We do not warrant that any third party including residency consultants, immigration attorneys, real estate agents, or tax advisors mentioned on the Publication will perform as expected. Any interaction you have with a third party mentioned in our content is between you and that third party, and Building Elsewhere is not a party to that interaction.
Limitation of liability

Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Publication shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in [Philadelphia, Pennsylvania], and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction whose mandatory consumer-protection laws apply to you, those protections apply and are not waived by this Section.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
Entire agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Building Elsewhere regarding the Publication and supersede any prior agreements between us.
